One way to kill poison ivy and other undesirables, is to use “horticultural” grade vinegar.

How to Spray

To spray the vinegar, I used a sprayer originally sold to apply cleaners, preservatives, and sealers on wood decks and siding.

Where to Buy

I placed an order through eBay for a 4-pack of 20% vinegar.  That 20% concentration is hard to find!  With UPS Ground shipping included, I paid a total of $71.71.  Seems expensive to me.  I see that the seller also has a store outside of eBay but I have not yet ordered from their website.  The direct link to their website and vinegar:  marshallgrain.com

20% vinegar is hard to find

20% vinegar is expensive and hard-to-find. This brand is "Nature's Guide".

Other Ideas

Because this stuff is expensive, it might be worth the effort to make your own vinegar.

How do you make your own vinegar? Isn’t the vinegar we buy in the supermarket strong enough to use as a weed killer?

As far as strength goes, I have not tried weaker, supermarket vinegar. If you try it, would you please let me know how it works? That would be cheaper and easier to get. I trusted others online that said you need strong vinegar to kill plants.

The vinegar has to be very strong…at least 20% so regular vinegar will not be nearly as effective. If you are going to use household vinegar, heat it up and also adding salt will add to the killing affect.
